Welcome to Andhakshi
A charitable public trust founded in 1937 for destitute, blind and mentally challenged women;
Andhakshi means sight for the sightless.
Andhakshi is a haven for women needing institutionalized care and a place away from the glaring stigma of their conditions.
Visually impaired women feel secure enough to live here spending time with music and other recreational facilities.
Differently abled children have now become part of the Ashram as they have no place to go and would normally land in a remand home. Andhakshi gives them an opportunity to live here, attend special schools and have all their requirements met.
The trust is managed by Fatima Vengurlekar since 1994 in capacity of Director. Sharing love and affection and spreading awareness of a normal life among the inmates, she has played a significant role in bringing about big changes in the ashram
